A Legacy In The Making
Since 2006, the Stuff the Bus promotion has altered the lives of children and families throughout Warren County and South Central Kentucky. Stuff the Bus is a community event that focuses on meeting the school supply needs of school-age children to ensure that every child starts the school year the same way. The goal is to give every child the same first day of school experience, regardless of background, home life, or economic status.
Each year community members come together to provide everything from basic school supplies to sports equipment and clothing to tremendous monetary donations, all used to help area children and the schools they attend. This past year, four school buses were filled to the brim with donations. This incredible success is greatly due to the efforts of radio personality Tony Rose and the amazing staff of the event to champion this worthwhile cause. Each year he and the volunteers raise major awareness for Stuff the Bus and are now inseparably tied to the heartwarming event. Like so much of the community, they understand the importance of this outpouring of compassion, which is the true definition of this event.
Stuff the Bus has continued to grow each year since it began nearly a decade ago. It has provided for school-age children all the way from kindergarten through high school, often helping the same children each year. Tony, as well as many community members, realized the educational dream should not stop at a high school diploma. This group of dedicated individuals recognized the need for a next step that would serve students as they pursued higher education opportunities.
Thanks to the visionary leadership and massive community support the event has received, we have created the Stuff the Bus Scholarship Fund to enable the same kids they helped through K-12 attain their dreams of post-secondary education. This scholarship fund is designed to offer assistance to complete the entire education cycle. Through this new fund, Stuff the Bus will continue to help deserving students and impact lives in an even greater capacity than ever before. Time will tell the future of the Stuff the Bus annual promotional event, but we are excited that this Stuff the Bus Scholarship Fund will exist in perpetuity and provide encouragement and assistance to a countless number of students for generations to come.
Through donating to this fund, you too can be a part of giving bright futures to those deserving students.
What’s different about donating here than donating to the Stuff the Bus promotional event?
Unlike the Stuff the Bus where the goal is to fill buses with school supplies for students K-12, this campaign serves to generate funds for the Stuff the Bus scholarship housed at College Heights Foundation. This scholarship takes the Stuff the Bus promotional event a step further by following those deserving students as they pursue college degrees. Through this fund, students in similar situations as those helped by the filling of the bus events will be provided assistance and encouragement to attain their academic goals post high school graduation.
Why the $5,000 mark?
$1,000 pays for one student’s yearly school supplies. The $5,000 mark then was created to provide for 5 students. This exciting but attainable goal also allows us the space to exceed since going beyond this mark only serves to help more students.
What makes this campaign special?
The Stuff the Bus event and scholarship fund are unique in so many ways. First is the community effort behind it all. The Stuff the Bus event has snowballed from a small group of volunteers and one man sleeping on a bus to hundreds of members of the community, the governor of Kentucky, and myriad volunteers taking notice and devoting hours of their time to provide for thousands of students throughout all of Warren County. And through this scholarship fund, that incredible reach and legacy will only grow.
Second is the direct impact this has on local students. Like the Stuff the Bus event, the donations from this campaign will change the lives of individual students for years to come.
And finally, unlike many other campaigns, this campaign has no cap. Different than many in which a goal is set and all needs will be met by hitting that mark, this campaign and its goal are limitless. Whatever funds are generated go directly to creating scholarships for deserving students.
